Laskar Pelangi ... See the Movie with Heart …

Laskar Pelangi - pictures
Knock .. knock .. finally I wrote something about this movie .. honestly since the first time I read the book, I've been wondering if someday the story will be filmed and now it's realized by Mira Lesmana and Riri Reza. When the publication of the movie was launched .. I couldn't wait to see ..

Laskar Pelangi (”Rainbow Warriors”), is one of the films that gives us something to think about, the audacity of hope, the bittersweets of the social reality in a poor area, where dream is such a luxury thing to have, while at the same time worth-fighting for.

The point of view of the story was from a poor boy who lived in Belitong, the magnificent and rich island which produce timber, but yet the people were poor. This poor boy could only go to school if the school had enough students (10 kids) to start the class.

The kids were playful, spiritful and full of laughs however despairing the con
dition was. With inadequate facility, they tried hard to compete with other schools and survive. It was the unshakable dreams of the students and the two dedicated teachers that made them survive. I was really carried away by the movie, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery that made me want to visit. Then it came to a part, when the brilliant kid, Lintang, had to quit studying because his father died .. it touched me very deeply ... oohh .. :(
The Inspiring Lintang
The film ended with only the main character, which is the book author - Andrea Hirata, finally achieving his dream while others fail, leaving their dream for their children.

This was a simple story, and very common in Indonesia even still running up until today. But it’s about how to tell the story that matter, that make us see the movie with our heart beyond the intelligence.
